The Grey Berets, formerly called the Special Operations Weather Teams (SOWTs), are Air Force meteorologists with unique reconnaissance training to operate in hostile or denied territory

Recon Team Weather
Recon Team Weather operated out of Ban Me Thuot - Forward Recon for US led Mike Force, FACS Units. ( Forward Area Cambodia Surveillance).
CCS was set up as one of the more specialised (and the smallest) of MACV-SOG's Command and Control Centres with a specific role of conducting ' Classified & Special, Unconventional Warfare and Recon Missions inside Viet Cong controlled areas of South Vietnam and Cambodia.'
Recon Team Weather in conjunction with the FACS forces laid the way for the eventual allied invasion of Cambodia and remained long after the Allied troops withdrew. Their role was primarily to locate and destroy Viet Cong fortresses within Cambodia, to destroy communications and supply lines and to capture key individuals (both politicial and military) within Cambodia.
RT Weather was involved in ' Black Op's ' including (the now declassified) capture of millions of dollars in Viet Cong moneys to be distributed within the South Vietnam, VC Controlled areas.
