USAAF 7th Air Force
The 7th Air Force was a United States Army Air Forces combat unit in the Pacific Theater of World War II1. It was initially established as the Hawaiian Air Force and later re-designated as the 7th AF in February 1942. The 7th AF provided air defense for the Hawaiian Islands and engaged in combat operations primarily in the Central Pacific . It was the first command of the US Army Air Forces to engage in action during WWII and remained engaged in the war from start to finish
